Michael Gornick

President

Mike is the founder and president of Laurel Real Estate Services, LLC. Over his 15 year career he has provided services to major regional development firms on several pivotal projects, lead his own redevelopments, orchestrated several ground-up development projects, created a full-service property management service model, and has worked with individual investors to make strategic equity plans in the Pittsburgh real estate market and beyond. He also sits on numerous charitable and trust executive boards and committees and remains active in his neighborhood and church. 

Passionate about community and particularly appreciative of the unique role each individual member plays in it, Mike naturally has been drawn to real estate throughout his life. Believing buildings and land offer more than a superficial utility, he sees real estate as place-making opportunities where people can come together to share ideas and creativity.  

The early part of his professional career was spent working in Allegheny County’s Department of Economic Development. During his time with the County, Mike provided oversight and technical support to a variety of real estate projects, administered federal, state, and local grants, and conducted community outreach, public-private partnership initiatives, construction monitoring, grant procurement, funding requisition, and the monitoring of environmental remediation activities on Brownfield sites controlled by the County.  

In his subsequent 12 years as Laurel Real Estate Services, LLC, Mike has been involved in over 2,500,000SF of real estate repositioning, acquisition, development, redevelopment activities; including 1,565 multi-family residential units, 635,000 SF of office, 113,000 SF of retail, 2,526 parking spaces, and 426 hotel rooms. Laurel currently manages 739 multi-family residential units across five locations, 759parking spaces, 50,000 SF of office space, and 20,000 SF of retail space. 

Mike, his wife, and five children live in Pittsburgh’s North Squirrel Hill neighborhood. He is an alumnus of Duquesne University where he earned a Bachelors degree in Arts and Sciences, with a major in Political Science & Policy Analysis. He completed his Masters in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance from the University of Pittsburgh’s Joseph M. Katz Graduate School of Business.

Michael Liguori

Vice President of Portfolio Operations

Mike focuses on Laurel’s acquisitions and the needs of a select group of private clients throughout metropolitan Pittsburgh and the Northeastern United States. His long-standing relationships, market knowledge, and decades of transactional experience give Mike the expertise to devise insightful solutions tailored to client’s individual investment goals.

Mike served as Vice President of Hanna LWE (formerly Langholz Wilson Ellis, Inc.) and head of their Investment Sales Division for nearly twenty years. He specialized in ’off-market’ transactions for private clients and institutional investors, transacting more than one billion closed deal volume. Before his tenure at Hanna LWE, Mike was a partner in All brook Property Management, Re/Max Real Estate Executives, Terra Settlement Services, and AAA Appraisal Services. As owner and manager of these ventures, he contributed to their overall growth while expanding his personal production in commercial sales.

A Pittsburgh native, Mike was born and raised in Mt. Lebanon, a neighborhood in Pittsburgh’s South Hills. He received his bachelor’s degree in business administration at Westminster College, where he was instrumental in establishing their study abroad program. He now resides in McCandless Township with his wife and five children. He is an active Board Member at Gift of Mary Shelter in Pittsburgh. Additionally, he has been heavily involved in service projects and raising funds for various charities throughout his career.

Chris Durkin

Vice President of Property Management

Chris joined the Laurel Management Team in 2016 and has been in the property management industry for over 12 years managing many different levels and divisions of multi-family housing. He trains, develops, and directly supervises a multitude of site-level Managerial Teams across Laurel’s growing residential portfolio.  Chris is also involved in the project management arm of the company providing guidance in Laurel’s ongoing renovation and developmental endeavors.

Holding a Pennsylvania Real Estate License, Chris researches, presents, and educates the Laurel Team on industry trends, forecasts, and occurrences within the multi-family realm. He collaborates with his Colleagues on an ongoing basis to review Company policies and procedures and ensures all Company policies reflect Pennsylvania Real Estate Commission protocol as well as Federal Fair Housing Laws and guidelines.  Chris is a consistent participant and voice in local Western Pennsylvania Real Estate organizations and enjoys attending community development meetings to keep a pulse on the ever-changing Real Estate landscape within his native Pittsburgh region.  

Chris is proud to work with and supervise exceptionally talented teams of Property Managers, Leasing Staff, and Maintenance Professionals and serves as the primary interface of communication between Site level Managers and the rest of the Executive Team. Chris’s knowledge and experience in the fields of building engineering, site-maintenance, systems operations, life safety, and local Government regulations have all assisted in the development into his current role.  He is also instrumental in the annual research, organization, and initiation of the operational and capital expenditure budgets for Laurel’s primary assets each calendar year.

Chris grew up in the Mt. Lebanon neighborhood of Pittsburgh and is a graduate of Juniata College. During his free time, he and his Wife Sarah enjoy contributing to their faith and local church, and spending time together outdoors fishing, hiking, and biking.

Tara Gadish

Vice President of Leasing & Marketing

Tara joined the Laurel Management Team in early 2020, with over thirteen years of experience in the real estate industry. Tara can be described as a passionate and driven leader, overseeing the leasing and marketing strategies across multiple properties. She consistently enhances portfolio performance by ensuring high occupancy, tenant satisfaction, and revenue growth. Tara directly supervises and trains a multitude of teams to enhance their performance and career development. She has successfully implemented innovative marketing campaigns, streamlined leasing processes, and continues to establish strong relationships with key stakeholders.

Tara is a graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania and is a proud mother of two young children, Gavin and Landon, who live in Hempfield Township. Her young family is always on the go; they enjoy staying active, especially outdoors and playing sports.

Tom Belan

Financial Controller

Tom is the Financial Controller at Laurel Real EstateServices LLC.  He began his career in real estate in 2001 at McKnight Realty Partners.  

There he worked his way up junior accountant to FinancialController.  When he left, he oversaw the books for 45 different companies in excess of 5,000,000 square feet.  In working his way through the ranks he became familiar with all aspects of real estate accounting, as well as budgeting and forecasting. 

Tom is a graduate of the Pennsylvania State University.  He later went on to attend Point ParkUniversity where he earned a Masters of Business Administration.  Tom lives with his wife and three sons inBaldwin Borough.  He is very active in the Baldwin Soccer Association, currently serving as a coach, as well as previously serving as the treasurer.

Jon Schoenberger

Vice President, People and Culture

Jon brings over 15 years of professional management experience to the executive leadership team. Prior to joining Laurel Real Estate LLC, most of his career was in the hospitality and hotel industry. He has vast experience in employment relations, full cycle recruiting, payroll, and benefits administration. Jon received his Bachelor of Science from Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a major in Hospitality Management. Jon is PHR (Professional in Human Resources) certified and actively participates in continuing education within his field.    

Jon resides in the Point Breeze neighborhood of Pittsburgh with his wife and daughter. He is very involved in the Pittsburgh running community and has participated in multiple marathons and various other races. Jon enjoys all things travel and is always looking forward to his next adventure.

Andrew Sherry

Asset Acquisitions Manager

Andrew is the Asset Acquisitions Manager at Laurel Real Estate Services, LLC.  In addition to his primary directive, growing the portfolio, he is involved in various parts of operations ranging from performance audits to loan placement.  

His career at Langholz Wilson Ellis, Inc. (later Hanna LWE) honed his financial forecasting and analysis skillset for a myriad of different asset classes. This experience primed Andrew for this multifaceted role.  To date, he has transacted over$400 million worth of property

After graduating from Pittsburgh Central Catholic, Andrew headed to University of Missouri, Columbia to wrestle for the Tigers. There, he received his BSBA in Finance and an emphasis in Real Estate. After returning to Pittsburgh, Andrew met his wife, Maggie, and they now live in Hampton Township with their 3 children, Ruth, Rowan, and Heath.

Chris Crusan

Accounting

Chris' responsibilities are wide ranging from ushering the company though the GL Code implementation with a new software to day-to-day bookkeeping of all Laurel managed properties.

Before Laurel, Chris has been an accountant in many industries, from small non-profits to large corporations such as America Eagle. He brought years of experience and professionalism to Laurel and has been an integral part of Laurel’s growth and success. Chris is a firm believer of“knowledge is power” so when he’s not working on pursuing his CPA, he’ll be found reading a book on ancient Rome listening to a podcast on the history of potatoes.
